On Friday, January 30, St. Mary of the Hills Student Council led
the school in prayer as we celebrated Catholic Schools Week with a special
liturgy in our school hall. Our celebrant was Father Arthur Wright,
our pastor.
The theme for Catholic Schools this year is "Catholic Schools Celebrate
Service." Father Wright spoke to us about the ways in which we
can serve others. Our students will be serving the community in many
ways, including cleaning the playground, writing letters to soldiers
and the elderly, collecting bottles and cans for charity, and collecting
blankets and towels for the animal shelter. Jon Nivens led us with lively,
spiritual music and Mrs. Etienne led many of our students in a beautiful
liturgical dance to the music “My Redeemer Lives.” As Mass
ended, students sang and signed the song "Lord, I Lift Your Name
on High."
