Seussical the Mussical

BROADWAY STARS SHINE BRIGHT
FOR ST. MARY OF THE HILLS SCHOOL

When you go into Boston to see the latest touring Broadway show, you expect greatness, and it’s a great experience for anyone. The experience gets better when you go to see a “cute” middle school performance and what you get to see is nothing short of amazing! That is what the students of St. Mary of the Hills School did for their audiences last weekend while performing this year’s musical, Seussical the Mussical in Fontebonne Academy’s auditorium.

The show is based on the works of none other than Dr. Seuss, and features our favorite characters such as Cat in the Hat, Horton, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie LaBird and Sour Kangaroo, and even the Grinch!

“What I liked about the show was not only our performers, but also the great message that it sends out to the audience,” said Lisa Fasano, a principal of St. Mary of the Hills and one of the directors. Fasano continued, “The line, ‘A person’s a person, no matter how small,’ and the realization that anything is possible if you’re willing to try is repeated throughout so many of the songs, and it’s really a way of living I hope all of my students follow.”

Along with Fasano, the show was directed by three of the school’s teachers, Mrs. Alexia Etienne, Ms. Katie Frossard and Mr. Eddie Paris. “This was my first time being involved with something like this, and it I was so incredibly proud of our students,” said Frossard.
For students, the drama program at St. Mary of the Hills School is a very important part of their school career. Many students join as soon as they can (5th Grade) and stay active in the department right up through graduation. “It’s a really fun thing to do after school and putting on the show for an audience is the best part,” said Etenish (8th Grade student).

The school and community were extremely proud of their future Broadway stars and are already looking forward to next year’s production.
