The excitement continued when the classroom became a new habitat for the various types of plants and flowers, while learning about plants and different life cycles, especially seeds. The Fifth Graders worked in groups to make predictions, develop their hypothesis and observed different types of beans (lentils, pinto beans, black beans and kidney beans). They observed the beans daily and recorded their observations as the beans went from germinating, to sprouting, to growing.

What excitment! As they could not believe that the beans could grow from just paper towel, water and sunlight. The students continue to observe their work daily and have given their beans names. Ha! Ha! Like all Science experiences, some beans did not sprout, which led for healthy discussion about why this happened. Over all Science is alive which leads to inquiring minds, healthy discussion, observations, predicting, experimenting and questioning to name a few.
