What is a biome? In Science, the fifth graders learn that “A biome is a large ecosystem with generally the same climate and organisms.” After learning about the different ecosystems, the fifth graders researched independently and did a report on their favorite biomes. As a culmination of the chapter, they brought to class materials, and they worked cooperatively in groups of four and five respectively to create their favorite Biomes. To name a few of the Biomes done were, Deciduous Biome, Wetlands, Tropical Rainforest Biome, Under the Sea and Grasslands. They had fun and learned valuable lessons in how to agree to disagree before arriving at the final products, which they were very proud of and so was I on a job well done.
