9:15-10:30 Direct instruction of reading/language arts (stories, phonics, sight words, poetry
journals, journal writing, letter activities, literacy centers)

10:30-10:50 Snack/Recess

10:50-11:35 Direct instruction of mathematics and/or math centers

11:35-11:45 Prepare for lunch

11:45-12:10 Lunch

12:10-12:30 Recess

12:30-1:10 Rest (soft music/books on tape, or children may look at books quietly)

1:10-1:30 Religion

1:30-2:00 Science/Social Studies/Thematic Instruction

1:30-2:30 Computer (Tuesday afternoon only)

2:00-2:30 Centers (self-selected activities, e.g. art, blocks, puzzles)

2:30-2:40 Prepare for Dismissal (clean-up, prayers)

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A SAMPLE SCHEDULE. TEACHERS OFTEN WILL AND DO ALTER THE SCHEDULE TO ACCOMODATE FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS AND EVENTS, AS WELL AS FOR MUSIC, PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND LIBRARY (see enclosed specials schedule).

N.B.: Children are allowed to use the bathroom anytime throughout the day. However, they MUST ask permission to leave the classroom.
