MARY'S IN THE NEWS An article by one of our parishioners, Jack Dunn, "Hope's alive parish by parish," appeared in the Boston Herald on Saturday, December 4, 2004. [The article properly begins at the second paragraph.] Fr. Wright's response appeared in the "Letters to the Editor" section of the Herald on Wednesday, December 8th: 'Blame' to share Guest columnist Jack Dunn writes that I'm "to blame" for breathing new life into our parish ("Hope's alive parish by parish," Dec. 4). If there's "blame," I'd like to spread it around. Rather than seeing the emerging vitality of our parish as the result of my efforts alone as pastor, the story behind the story is that the whole community is "breathing new life" together. Our parishioners constantly demonstrate an incredible willingness to step up and jump in once a need is identified. Where does that willingness come from? From our love for the Church. We're trying to do our best to live our faith as disciples of Christ, and recognizing that we're all on the journey together, we're working to learn new ways to be fully parish together, to be Church together, relying on the talents of all, both laity and clergy.
The Rev. Arthur F. Wright, Pastor
